Westpoint ESCON attached tape drives provide IBM S/390 mainframe connectivity for 9 track open reel, 3480, 3490 and 3490E cartridge tape systems and for newer tape technologies. Connecting via ESCON or BUS TAG the system uses standard IBM emulations for transparent operation with existing applications. The product also provides a mainframe gateway to many Open System devices and as a fast data mover to UNIX and Windows platforms.
