The software makes use of fast hard disk for data caching and provides optical media for secure long time archiving. This leads to a high performance and secure storage environment. Westpoint’s m-CON product provides IBM S/390 mainframe connectivity for 9 track, 3480, 3490 and 3490E legacy tape systems and the latest tape technologies. Connecting via ESCON or BUS TAG the system uses standard IBM emulations for transparent operation with existing applications. The product also provides a mainframe gateway to many Open System devices and as a fast data mover to UNIX and Windows platforms.
