Crime Scene Investigators who gather
digital camera and video evidence need to create secure and
verifiable copies for use as admissible evidence. The Westpoint
‘CopyStation’ was conceived in conjunction with the Metropolitan
Police to meet this need; and as well as gaining Home Office
approval, it has since been proven extensively in the field. CopyStation is unique in following the
APCO and Home Office guidelines exactly by producing a master of the
digital evidence from a standard memory or media card, replicating
the data and producing a working copy – all from just one
press of a button. There is no need for specialist intervention or
lengthy training, and the ‘Write Once, Read Many’ (WORM) approach
employed ensures that the integrity of the original evidence is
never compromised. |

Secure servers and managed archivesWestpoint also designs and builds
complete back office solutions to securely manage digital evidence.
We provide everything required – including the network to link the
system to users and peripherals. No component of your secure storage
is left exposed to untrained operators unintentionally compromising
the integrity of your evidence, or to unauthorised and unrecorded
access. Regular audits and routine checks of the
system are built into the ongoing management, and Westpoint
solutions are accredited to at least the ‘Restricted’ level under
the Government Protective Marking Scheme (GPMS) and in accordance
with the APCO Community Security Policy (CSP). |
Secure Data TransportTransporting digital evidence or
confidential data has traditionally required a trained operator or
consultant to collect and store the data. Westpoint has developed a
simple interface for users to write data to a storage device in an
encrypted file. This prevents unauthorised access and tampering
while data is being moved, until it can be safely stored on a secure
server. |
